Well, Y'know...

I feel like it goes without saying, but Stuff Still Happened.

Well, Y'know...

Hello, dear reader! If you're wondering where today's SKH is, it's uh... I'm looking for it. Somewhere. I'm sure I'll find it by next week.

The US has invaded Venezuela while I was trying to enjoy a deep snooze. Alas, the unhinged whims of a sundowning failed casino owner direct international relations for this country now. But also, so does the CIA and war hawks in the cabinet who are likely the ones pushing for this to begin with.

I ask myself: Would Donald Trump give the remotest shit about Venezuela on his own volition? Further, would he even know about Venezuela on his own volition?

My heart says, "lol fuck no."

And so, I put together this video yesterday instead of making an SKH for this week. This is not an attempt to story the entirety of the history between the US and Venezuela, but instead a look at how a situation this absolutely messy unfolding in real time is not something we can just tidy up into an acceptable little package and qualify as "a universally good thing" or "universally bad thing."

As for my personal outlook on all this: I am non-plussed. Especially with the way that the supposed opposition party in this country has reacted, which has largely been about how this was "an illegal operation" while maintaining that they're Cool And Chill with the outcome of the operation because "Evil Dictator Bad and America Good and Had Nothing To Do With The Situation Before Now."

I'll be covering this as it unfolds, of course. And I hope to share perspectives from Venezuelans actually living there as time goes on.

If you or someone you know is living in Venezuela and would like to offer further insight, send off an email to my public inbox and I'll see about getting in touch!
